Educational Support & Parent Empowerment
Raising Phoenix offers practical educational support to help parents better understand their child’s needs and effectively advocate for them. Raising Phoenix offers non-attorney parent support and child advocacy for a significantly lower cost than attorney advocates. While we cannot guarantee a specific outcome, we CAN guarantee that we won’t give up until you do, we WILL NOT let you give up without a fight, we WILL take on some of the emotional impact that IEP meetings and emails cause to parents, and we CAN help you to become your child’s best advocate for years to come.
*should any events occur within the process that require legal guidance, advice, or action, our clients are directed to contact Equip for Equality where you will connect with attorneys who will provide completely pro-bono legal advice and assistance to parents of students with disabilities, or disabled individuals directly. Raising Phoenix is NOT trained in legal matters and does not claim expertise on IEP law.*
What We Help With:
• IEP and 504 Plan Guidance
Raising Phoenix provides support in navigating the special education process, requesting evaluations, and developing strong, individualized education plans. We can also attend your child’s school meetings to advocate and ensure compliance with IDEA, FAPE, and other applicable special education laws. We will refer you to free legal assistance programs, resources to empower yourself as an advocate, and help identify the steps to take when the process does not support your child.
• Understanding Neurodivergent Learning Profiles
Raising Phoenix helps schools and parents understand how their child learns best, including masking, sensory needs, executive functioning challenges, and twice-exceptional (high IQ) profiles.
• Advocacy Skills Training
Raising Phoenix assists parents in communicating effectively with schools, preparing for meetings, and documenting their child’s needs and experiences at school.
• Attorney Trainings
Join us for sessions with an experienced education attorney who will explain your child’s legal rights under IDEA and Illinois law, and teach practical strategies for securing appropriate supports and accommodations.
• Customized Education Planning
Raising Phoenix conducts in-home observations and personalized strategies that actually fit your child’s unique brain and family life, not generic “one-size-fits-all” approaches.
Whether you need help understanding the system, preparing for a meeting, or learning how to advocate with confidence, we provide clear, actionable education and support tailored to your family’s real experiences.
